Two years ago, over 200 people in Plymouth were living with diagnosed HIV – but there are still hundreds who have the immunodeficiency virus and don’t know it.
As part of National HIV Testing Week (19-26 November), health reporter Charlotte Turner went along to get a test in Plymouth to show how quick, easy and important taking a test is. A shocking figure from 2015 showed that 41.1 per cent of HIV positive people in the South West were diagnosed late, meaning their risk of death within the first year increased tenfold.
These stark figures show just how important it is to get yourself checked, and it’s extremely simple to get it done in Plymouth.
