Open the swab (avoid touching the tip). Insert it no more than 2 cm into the left nostril. Rotate 5 times. Repeat in the right nostril.
Insert the swab into the buffer vial. Rotate it vigorously 5 times, then 5 more times while squeezing the vial. Remove the swab while rotating and squeezing the vial. Cap the vial. Flick the vial to mix, then add 3 drops to the sample well.
Set a timer for 15 minutes (don't read results after 30 minutes). Negative: Control line only. Positive: Control and test lines. Follow public health guidelines. Invalid: No control line. Repeat the test.
